Bihar Govt Hikes Honorarium for School Workers Ahead of Elections

In a major decision ahead of the upcoming elections, the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar has doubled the honorarium for key school-level workers, including midday meal cooks, watchmen, and health instructors.

As per the updated plan:

Cooks will now receive ₹2,000/month (earlier ₹1,000)

Watchmen will get ₹3,000/month (earlier ₹1,500)

Health instructors will also see a significant raise

This move is expected to benefit thousands of support staff working in government schools across the state. Officials believe this will boost motivation among workers who play a vital role in school operations.

Political observers view the decision as a pre-election welfare push, aimed at strengthening support among rural and low-income groups.

The Education Department confirmed that the revised payments will be implemented soon.
