Cambodia accused of violating ceasefire hours after truce deal

Bangkok-Cambodia has been accused of breaking a ceasefire agreement just hours after a peace deal was signed. Reports from local and international sources say that gunfire and shelling were heard in the border areas, raising concerns over the seriousness of the truce. The ceasefire was meant to stop recent clashes between Cambodian forces and neighboring countries, which had led to growing tension in the region.

Witnesses claimed that the fighting resumed within hours, even though both sides had agreed to hold fire. There has been no official explanation from Cambodian authorities so far, but officials from the other side have condemned the violation and called for international attention.

Peace activists and foreign diplomats have expressed concern about the situation, urging both parties to stick to the terms of the agreement. The renewed fighting has also created fear among local residents, many of whom had returned to their homes hoping the violence had ended.

Analysts say that without trust and monitoring, such ceasefire agreements may not last long. Talks between the involved countries may now face delays or new challenges, depending on how both sides respond to these latest claims.

The situation remains tense, and observers are closely watching for further developments or fresh statements from the governments involved.
