Cloudburst hits Himachal Pradesh Rampur 496 roads closed due to heavy rain
A cloudburst struck the Rampur area of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, leading to flash floods and landslides that have caused major disruptions. Officials reported that 496 roads across the state have been shut due to the continuous heavy rainfall.
The cloudburst and subsequent rain affected several districts, including Shimla, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Mandi. Many villages have lost road access, and transportation services remain suspended in interior regions. The landslides have also damaged public infrastructure and homes in the affected zones.
State disaster response teams are on the ground to clear blocked routes and assist stranded people. Local authorities have issued warnings advising residents and tourists to avoid travel in hilly or vulnerable areas. Schools and colleges in some regions have also been temporarily closed as a precautionary measure.
While no casualties have been reported so far, rescue and relief efforts are ongoing. The meteorological department has predicted more rain in the coming days, raising concerns about worsening conditions.
This incident adds to the series of weather-related disruptions that Himachal Pradesh has faced during this monsoon season.
