EC team finds 80 voter names linked to single small house in Mahadevpura

Election Commission officials were in for a surprise during a recent verification drive in Bengaluru’s Mahadevpura area. A single small house, barely enough to accommodate a family, was found to have 80 registered voters listed at the address.

When the team arrived for a door-to-door check, they discovered the room was locked and no residents were present. Neighbours reportedly told officials that the property had not housed so many people at any point, raising questions about the authenticity of the voter entries.

Authorities have initiated an inquiry to determine how the names were added to the rolls and whether the registrations were fraudulent. The findings are expected to be shared with higher election authorities, and any irregular entries will be removed from the voter list.

The incident has sparked concerns about possible misuse of voter registration ahead of upcoming elections, prompting the EC to intensify its verification process across the constituency.
