ED raids intensify in Chattisgarh 500 crore medical supply scam

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday raided 18 locations across Chattisgarh including the office of Mokshit Corporation, in the Durg district of Chhattisgarh, as a part of an alleged 500 crore medical supply “scam”. These actions signal a serious probe into alleged financial irregularities within the state's medical procurement system.

Sources indicate that the operations were initiated under a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) probe. The ED specifically targeted premises linked to a range of individuals and entities believed connected to illicit activities. These included government officials suspected of facilitating malpractices; various medical suppliers and agents involved in the supply chain; and notably, certain "middlemen" believed to have orchestrated the scheme. 

The alleged scam underscores the potential scale of financial misappropriation within the state's healthcare system. The ongoing investigation aims to trace and freeze proceeds of crime, ensuring accountability for those found culpable. The agency's proactive measures highlight a resolute commitment to dismantling corrupt networks that undermine public services and misuse taxpayer money.
