India Bloc MPs to March to Election Commission Office Over SIR Concerns
Around 300 Members of Parliament from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) are set to hold a protest march to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on August 11. The demonstration is aimed at raising objections to the State Information Reports (SIRs) that the bloc claims are linked to alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
Leaders of the alliance stated that the protest will begin from the Parliament complex and proceed towards the ECI headquarters in New Delhi. The participants will include MPs from various opposition parties within the INDIA bloc, reflecting a united stance on the issue.
According to the alliance, the SIRs have created concerns over transparency and fairness in elections. The bloc has alleged that such reports could be misused to influence electoral outcomes, undermining the democratic process.
Security arrangements are expected to be tightened in central Delhi on the day of the march, with traffic restrictions likely in some areas. The Delhi Police have been informed of the route and crowd size in advance to ensure safety and order.
This protest is part of the INDIA bloc’s broader campaign to demand reforms and greater accountability in the election process. It also follows a series of meetings and joint press briefings held by opposition leaders over the past month. The ECI has yet to issue an official response to the planned protest, but the demonstration is expected to draw significant political attention.
