India Reaffirms Backing for Two-State Solution in IsraelPalestine Conflict at UN
At a recent United Nations session, India once again voiced its firm support for a two-state solution as the path to lasting peace between Israel and Palestine. The country’s representative reiterated New Delhi’s longstanding position, calling for dialogue, restraint, and a peaceful resolution to the decades-old conflict.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly, India's Permanent Representative to the UN emphasized that only a negotiated settlement, leading to the establishment of a sovereign, independent, and viable Palestinian state, can bring sustainable peace and stability to the region.
“India has consistently advocated for direct negotiations between the two parties, leading to a two-state solution, with both Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace within secure and recognized borders,” the representative stated.
The statement comes at a time when tensions remain high across the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with recent violence claiming lives and worsening humanitarian conditions on the ground. The Indian delegation also expressed deep concern over civilian casualties and the growing toll on innocent lives due to the continued conflict.
India has historically supported the Palestinian cause while maintaining strong diplomatic and economic ties with Israel. This balanced stance has allowed India to advocate for peace without alienating either side.
India also called on the international community to increase efforts toward resuming dialogue and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches affected populations. “The need for immediate de-escalation and humanitarian access cannot be overstated,” the envoy added.
As global powers struggle to find common ground on the issue, India’s reaffirmation of the two-state framework signals its continued commitment to a just and peaceful resolution rooted in dialogue and mutual recognition.
