Postal Woes Bengaluru is Registered Post Services Hit by Technical Glitch Since Monday
BENGALURU — Residents across Bengaluru have been facing major inconvenience as Registered Post services remain suspended at several post offices since Monday. What began as a technical snag has now turned into a city-wide disruption, leaving hundreds of people waiting in long queues with parcels and important documents — only to be turned away.
The glitch, believed to be linked to the India Post’s central server systems, has affected the registration process of parcels and letters across both major and neighborhood post offices. While other services like Speed Post and ordinary mail remain functional, the absence of Registered Post operations has sparked growing frustration among citizens, especially those needing proof of delivery for legal or official purposes.
“We've been coming here since Tuesday. They just say the server is down and ask us to check tomorrow. It's the same story every day,” said Lakshmi Narayan, a resident of Jayanagar, holding onto a carefully packed envelope meant for a court submission.
Postal officials admit to the disruption but are tight-lipped on the exact cause or how long it might take to resolve. “There’s a technical issue at the back-end. The central IT team is working on it. We hope things will be up soon,” said an official at the General Post Office near Vidhana Soudha.
