Celebrate Tigers, Safeguard Our Ecosystem

Tigers are the largest wild cats and apex predators, essential for maintaining balanced ecosystems. By controlling herbivore populations, they help preserve the health of forests and grasslands. Protecting tiger habitats also secures vital watersheds that provide freshwater to over 800 million people across Asia.

Each tiger has a unique stripe pattern, much like a fingerprint. They are strong swimmers, solitary hunters, and tiger cubs are born blind, opening their eyes after about two weeks.

In Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva wears a tiger skin, symbolizing mastery over primal instincts. Rare golden tabby tigers, a color variation of the Bengal tiger, are extremely scarce—only a few are known to exist in Kaziranga National Park, India.

Kailash Sankhala, known as the Tiger Man of India, was a pioneering conservationist. He led Project Tiger, launched in 1973 to protect India’s dwindling tiger population. His work laid the foundation for modern tiger conservation, earning him the Padma Shri in 1992.

Protecting tigers means protecting ecosystems—securing a future for wildlife and people alike.
